Random ambient beats, glitches, sonic atmospheres… it begins with a mood that is like the front room of a 1940’s apartment building in the city, with two people smoking cigarettes, listening to the wireless while the rain falls softly outside. Everything is in sepia tone. But something is slightly amiss, a glitch in the matrix… maybe it’s the cigarettes, or something about the wallpaper. Maybe it’s the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Maybe it’s the splinter in your mind that’s driving you mad.

Let me introduce you to a new album of ambient sound collage music from UFOverdriver called The World Pulled Over Your Eyes – inspired by the film Matrix (still inspiring after all these years), but kind of overlaid in my mind with the feel of the movie Brazil. It’s a strange mental mash-up that produced an interesting music experience for me that I’d like to share with you – a half-hour journey of the mind in a chill soundscape of dreamy textures, glitched sounds, sampled movie clips, abstract guitars and pianos overlaying ambient backgrounds.
